On Saturday July the 5th, the National Shop Stewards Network will be holding it’s annual conference in London. Open to all trade unionists (shop stewards included), it aims to bring together activists from as many unions as possible to share experiences of fighting austerity and to build a movement for united action against the Tories and the employers.
Highlights of the conference include speakers from the $15 Now! campaign in Seattle, which has recently won a massive increase in the minimum wage in that city from $8 to $15 an hour. Also speaking will be Ronnie Draper from the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers union which has led impressive unionisation campaigns at Greggs and Hovis. There will also be workshops on fighting for a living wage, ending NHS cuts and privatisation, construction workers fighting back and the need for a working class party.
